HCK emerged from the joining of two like minded clubs: Hagley & Clent and Kinver Badminton club. They joined together at the start of the 1997 Badminton season. Both clubs, although taking their badminton very seriously believed that the club should have a fun side to it too. On the social front the club organises events such as Christmas meals, Quizzes, Beer and Skittles and Walks. It is also not unheard of for members to go out for a drink after matches and club nights.
The club is run by a Committee voted in at the AGM by the members and a Selection Committee who choose the league teams. The standard of the club varies from competitive club standard to experienced 1st/2nd Division league players. This therefore offers opportunity for player of suitable standard to enjoy their badminton, improve their standard and have fun. The club encourages its members to dress appropriately for badminton, mainly in white.
Membership of the Club is by way of annual subscription. The current subscription is £80 per annum (Sept - Easter) plus a £2 per match fee for those playing in Teams. The club continues to play during the summer on an informal basis, the cost of which is covered by those who wish to participate.
The Clubs usually arranges a few social events during the year including a Christmas Social, a post Christmas Walk and a Summer or Spring Quiz or Disco.

The Clubs supports ten league teams; seven in the Cradley Heath and District Badminton League and three in the Worcester League.
In Cradley: 3 Men Teams, 3 Mixed Teams & 1 Ladies Team
In Worcester: 1 Mens, 1 Mixed Team, & 1 Vets Team
All matches must start promptly at 7pm on Mondays and 7.30pm on Fridays. This will ensure that there is enough time to complete the matches and release courts for club nights.
The Clubs tries to encourage Juniors (aged 9-13 years). The Club is arranging Junior Coaching at a nominal cost of £1.50 for an hour's coaching 7-8pm on certain of our Club Nights.

Visitors are most welcome to come and join us on any club night.
The charge to visitors is £2.50 per night (refundable against the annual subscription if the visitor is subsequently offered membership of the club)
A visitor is allowed to attend the club nights a maximum of 3
times after which they will be invited to fill in an application
form which will be put before the club’s committee. 
Whilst visitors are not allowed to select games, the Club runs a Board system which ensures that everyone gets an equal opportunity to play.
